Thousands of women join ‘Mahila Jan Aakrosh Padyatra’ in Jajpur’s Korei .

Jajpur ,17/05(PPT)A massive protest erupted at Korei In Jajpur District as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a large-scale ‘Mahila Jan Aakrosh Padyatra’ on Sunday , opposing the rejection of ‘Women’s Reservation Bill’ by Opposition parties. Thousands of women participated in the demonstration, expressing strong discontent over the issue. Dressed in black attire and carrying black flags, the protesters marched from Sankhachila . The rally witnessed a significant turnout, with women from different parts of the Korei uniting to voice their concerns. During the march, slogans were raised against both the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Indian National Congress (INC), accusing them of failing to support women’s empowerment. BJP leaders asserted that the Opposition would have to answer for what they termed as an injustice against women. Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak stated that those opposing the bill would have to “atone for their actions,” emphasising that the movement would not be limited to the State Capital. He said that the campaign would be expanded from Parliament to the panchayat level to build wider public awareness and support.
