DMF Projects for Health, Drinking Water and Maternal-Child Care Launched in Jajpur.

Jajpur,11/09(PPT): A number of public welfare projects focusing on healthcare, safe drinking water and maternal and child care were inaugurated in the mining-affected Sukinda and Danagadi blocks of Jajpur district with the support of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF).

Cooperation Minister Pradip Bal Samant, who attended the programme as the chief guest, inaugurated a new free dialysis centre at the Danagadi Community Health Centre.

Several ‘Nirmal Bindu IoT’-based drinking water purification projects were also dedicated to the public in different villages of Danagadi and Sukinda blocks. The projects aim to improve access to safe and purified drinking water in mining-affected areas.

At the Kalia Pani Community Health Centre, the Minister also inaugurated a ‘Maa Gruha’ and a ‘Shishu Samrudhi Kendra’ (Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre). The facilities will provide care and support to pregnant and post-natal women, besides nutritional food and medical assistance to malnourished children.

Addressing a public meeting at the Chandimata Upper Primary School ground in Kalia Pani, Mr Samant said the government was committed to the overall development of mining-affected areas, with particular emphasis on healthcare, drinking water and improvement of the quality of life.

He said such welfare initiatives through the DMF would continue in the coming days.

Lok Sabha MP Dr Rabindra Narayan Behera stressed the need for effective utilisation of DMF funds for the development of mining-affected areas. He said projects in healthcare, drinking water and maternal and child welfare would bring a positive change in the lives of local residents.

Jajpur Collector Ambar Kumar Kar said projects were being taken up through the DMF after identifying and prioritising the needs of mining-affected communities. He added that various government departments were working in coordination to ensure that the benefits of the projects reached the people.

Additional District Magistrate (Kalinga Nagar) Sapan Kumar Nanda, Chief Development Officer-cum-Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad Debi Prasad Mohanty, BDOs, departmental officials, DMF officials and local residents were present at the programme.

The initiatives are expected to strengthen healthcare, access to safe drinking water and maternal and child welfare services in the mining-affected areas of Jajpur.
