Jatra Plays Vital Role in Preserving Odia Culture: MLA Himanshu Sahoo .

Jajpur,30/10(PPT): On the occasion of Maa Lakshmi Puja, Dharamshala MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo inaugurated a Jatra festival organised by the Jai Shri Ram Jatra Committee at Bania Sahi in Kabatabandha village under Dharamshala block in Jajpur district. Addressing the gathering, Mr Sahoo said Jajatra and traditional theatre were inseparable parts of Odisha’s cultural identity and artistic heritage, serving not only as sources of entertainment but also as powerful mediums of education, social awareness and moral values. Emphasising the need to protect traditional performing arts amid rapid modernisation, he called for collective efforts to revive fading folk traditions and pass on the State’s rich cultural legacy to future generations. He added that Jatra continued to strengthen Odia identity, cultural pride and social harmony, while congratulating the committee members for their initiative and commitment to keeping the State’s traditional art forms alive.
