Doctor reaches doorstep of ailing tribal woman after social media appeal .

Jajpur,21/09(PPT): Responding to an appeal on social media, Dr Nihar Ranjan Kar, medical officer of Kabatabandha Primary Health Centre, reached the doorstep of an elderly tribal woman suffering from illness and provided her with an initial medical examination.

Meena Purti, a resident of Puruna Baulamala village under Jenapur police limits in Dharmasala block, had reportedly been living in a distressed condition while suffering from serious age-related ailments. Two days ago, local youth Manas Ranjan Biswal posted a photograph highlighting her plight on social media and sought medical assistance. Several people tagged Dr Kar in the post, urging him to extend help.

After noticing the appeal, Dr Kar contacted Biswal and arranged to visit the woman. Despite Sunday being a holiday, he reached Puruna Baulamala village with the assistance of Saroj Behera, convener of the Sachetan Nagarik Manch. He examined Meena and collected the necessary blood samples for further investigation.

Dr Kar assured the family that appropriate treatment would be arranged after the test reports were received. The initiative has drawn appreciation from local residents, who said the doctor’s decision to personally reach an ailing woman in need reflected the importance of compassionate and accessible healthcare.

The incident also highlighted how social media platforms can help bring cases of vulnerable people to the attention of public institutions and healthcare professionals, enabling timely intervention.
