Jajpur Sub-Collector Office Staffer Held for ₹40,000 Bribe .

Jajpur,25/09: Odisha Vigilance on Friday arrested a Junior Revenue Assistant (JRA) of the Jajpur Sub-Collector’s office for allegedly accepting a ₹40,000 bribe from an applicant.

The accused, Prasanna Kumar Sahani, was allegedly demanding money to process permission for the purchase of 16 decimals of land belonging to a Scheduled Caste landowner. The applicant had applied for the permission in November 2025.

According to Vigilance, Sahani initially demanded ₹48,000 but later agreed to accept ₹40,000. He was allegedly caught while accepting the bribe in his office. The entire amount was recovered from his possession.

Vigilance has registered a case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Simultaneous searches were also conducted at two locations linked to the accused. Investigation is underway.
