Police arrested two in connection with an attempted murder case involving indiscriminate firing.

Jajpur,24/06(PPT): Police have arrested on Wednesday two accused persons in connection with an attempted murder case involving indiscriminate firing near Purbakote High School under Korei police limits in Jajpur district.

The incident took place on June 21 at around 1:30 PM when Aula Taro Rao (21) of Purbakote village, was travelling on a motorcycle along with Rajesh Das(24) . On their way to Purbakote High School, they were allegedly chased by both the arrested accused, identified as Arjun Pradhan(25) and Bhola Pradhan(26) of Rabana village under Jakhapura police limits. Arjun Pradhan was riding the motorcycle while Bhola Pradhan was carrying a pistol. Near the school, the accused Bhola Pradhan opened fire and shot four rounds with the intention to kill them. Fortunately, two bullets struck the motorcycle, and both escaped unhurt. The accused also reportedly threatened them before fleeing from the scene.

After this incident , Aula Taro Rao and Rajesh Das filed an FIR in the police station and alleged that both the accused opened several rounds of fire at them but missed the target . Acting on the complaint , Police have launched a manhunt and nabbed both the accused from their hideouts. Police have seized two pistols ,one empty cartridge, two motor- cycles and two mobile phones from the accused. Both the accused were booked under section- 109(attempt to murder) of BNS and section- 27 of Arms Act, said the IIC of Korei police station, Rakesh Tripathy.

Both the accused were produced in the local court on Wednesday . The court rejected their bail applications and remanded them in judicial custody, added the police officer.
