Two Jajpur Men Honoured Posthumously for Bravery During Jewellery Shop Robbery .

Jajpur,31/08(PPT): Two men from Odisha’s Jajpur district, who bravely confronted armed miscreants during a robbery attempt at a jewellery shop in Panikoili a few days ago, have been conferred the Biju Patnaik Bravery Award posthumously in recognition of their courage.

The award was presented to the late Nilamadhab Panda and Sunil Kumar Ray at a state-level ceremony organised on the occasion of National Sports Day at the Convention Centre in Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented the honour to the recipients’ representatives at the ceremony.

Panda and Ray had displayed exceptional courage while confronting the miscreants during the robbery attempt at the jewellery establishment in Panikoili. Their actions have since been widely appreciated in Jajpur, with the incident highlighting the courage of ordinary citizens in the face of criminal violence.

Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak said the honour was a matter of pride for the entire district.

“Their indomitable courage and bravery have made the people of Jajpur proud. Their act of courage will remain an inspiration for generations to come,” Nayak said.

The Biju Patnaik Bravery Award, named after former Odisha Chief Minister and noted aviator Biju Patnaik, recognises acts of exceptional courage and bravery.

The posthumous recognition of Panda and Ray has brought renewed attention to their courageous response during the Panikoili incident and their willingness to confront the miscreants despite the risks involved.
