In Kalinganagar ; Tension erupts at Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited’s plant.

Jajpur,25/11(PPT): Tension gripped Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited’s plant in Jajpur’s Kalinga Nagar Industrial Area after hundreds of displaced family members staged a demonstration in front of the plant on Monday, demanding permanent employment and redressal of other grievances. As per sources, the family members displaced for the setting up of the plant assembled in front of the plant in Kalinga Nagar Industrial Area with several demands including permanent employment. The situation turned serious when they came face-to-face with factory security and police forces, forcing the district administration to impose Section 163 of the BNS in an area of 500 meters surrounding the factory premises.This measure was aimed at managing the situation and preventing any escalation of tension. To avoid any further disruption, the district administration has bolstered the security arrangement by deploying an additional district magistrate, two tehsildars, two block development officers, an additional superintendent of police, five IICs and six platoons of police force. “The district administration and the plant authorities have been ignoring our demands. If they continue to dilly-dally, we will be forced to bring the entire Kalinga Nagar to a standstill,” said Bijay Mohanta, a member of a displaced family. Informing about the security arrangements, additional superintendent of police Sitakanta Kanungo said, “Six platoons of police force and inspectors of five police stations are on the spot. No untoward incident has so far been reported. I hope it will be resolved peacefully.”Former minister Priti Ranjan Ghadai on Monday joined the movement against non-fulfillment of promises made to the people displaced by Neeelachal Ispal Limited in Kalinga Nagar Industrial Estate.
