Four temple burglars arrested.

Jajpur,23/11(PPT): Police have on Sunday claimed to have busted and idol lifter gang for their involvement in around four temple theft cases and arrested its four key members in Jajpur district. Police also recovered many stolen articles of the deities and temple from them. All the four accused have been identified as Satyaranjan Das (21) of Mangalpur , Bishamber Das(23) of Dankari village, Maheswar Kundu (24) of Routraypur and Mohan Sahoo (28) of Kuakhia village.Undetected thefts occurred from around four temples in this month under the police station of Dharamsala areas in the district. Thefts in many temples usually hurt the sentiments of devotees and others. Taking view of the feelings of the general public we formed a special unit and the team worked intermittently to nab the accused persons of temple thefts. We seized many brass bells, brass utensils and other apparels of the deities from them , said the Sub- Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Jajpur , Laxmidhar Swain. Further investigation in the case is under progress and raids are being carried out to apprehend other accused persons suspected to be involved in the racket , added the police officer. All the arrested criminals were booked under 331 (1) and 305 (d) of BNS . They were produced in the local court on Sunday. The court rejected their bail applications and remanded them in judicial custody, added the police officer.
