NUAPADA,11/10(PPT): The authorities of Khariar Autonomous College in Nuapada district have cancelled the students’ union elections scheduled for October 15, 2026, citing prevailing circumstances and concerns over the safety and security of students, staff and the institution.
In an official notice issued on October 11, the Principal-in-Charge informed students and contesting candidates about the cancellation of the elections for the 2026–27 academic session. The college has also been declared sine die until further orders, following directions from the competent authority.
As part of the decision, all boarders of the boys’ and girls’ hostels have been directed to vacate their respective hostels by 5 p.m. on October 11. The college administration has asked students to comply with the instructions issued by the authorities.
Further decisions on the reopening of the institution and the resumption of academic activities are awaited. The development comes amid reports of student unrest and election-related tensions at educational institutions in different parts of Odisha ahead of the scheduled campus polls.
