CUTTACK, 30/09(PPT):The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) seized 115.93 kg of ganja from the Puri-LTT Express at Cuttack railway station and arrested five persons, officials said.
The contraband, valued at around ₹57.96 lakh, was recovered from seven trolley bags and a backpack during a joint checking operation. The arrested persons, four from Mumbai and one from Bihar, allegedly told investigators that they had procured the ganja in Bhubaneswar and were carrying it to Mumbai.
A case has been registered at the Cuttack GRP police station under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is under way to trace other persons allegedly linked to the transportation network.
