BHUBANESWAR,10/10(PPT): Odisha para-athletes Damayanti Ojha and Sonali Ojha brought laurels to the State by winning gold and silver medals respectively in the BC4 Women’s Individual category at the Boccia Federation Cup 2026, held in New Delhi from October 3 to 8.
Damayanti clinched the gold medal after an impressive performance in the national-level competition, while Sonali secured silver in the same category. The tournament witnessed the participation of 44 athletes representing 16 States, making it a competitive platform for para-boccia players to showcase their skills.
Their double podium finish highlights Odisha’s growing presence in para-sports and reflects the athletes’ dedication, precision and perseverance in a sport that demands exceptional control, concentration and tactical ability.
Kamala Kanta Rath, president of the Para Sports Association of Odisha (PSAO), congratulated both athletes on their achievements. He praised their commitment and expressed confidence that they would continue to excel in future competitions and bring further recognition to Odisha and the country.
The association’s leadership also extended its congratulations to the medal winners, describing their performance as a source of inspiration for aspiring para-athletes in the State.
