Mega Membership Drive for Cooperatives Launched in Jajpur .

Jajpur,25/09(PPT): A Mega Membership Drive (MMD) was launched in Jajpur district on Friday to expand the membership of cooperative societies and bring more people at the grassroots level into the cooperative sector.

The district-level programme was held at the DRDA conference hall here in connection with the State-level launch of the MMD by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. Jajpur MP Dr Rabindra Narayan Behera, who attended the programme as the chief guest, highlighted the expanding role of cooperatives beyond agriculture, including textiles, handloom and fisheries. He stressed the need to bring more people into the cooperative system.

The online membership drive is aimed at simplifying the enrolment process and creating awareness among farmers and the public about the objectives and benefits of cooperatives. The initiative is also expected to strengthen the role of the cooperative sector in improving farmers’ incomes and facilitating access to government schemes.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister inaugurated virtually need-based infrastructure projects for paddy procurement centres of PACS at Chasakhand, Mangalpur, Arei, Markandpur, Panasa, Makundpur, Bagiria, Barundei, Pahanga and Barunei.

Jajpur Collector Amber Kumar Kar, officials of the Cooperative Department, district administration representatives, social workers and media representatives attended the programme.
