Jajpur,21/08(PPT ):The flood situation in Jajpur district of Odisha remains serious as the water level in the Baitarani river continues to flow above the danger mark. However, the water level of the Brahmani river is flowing below the danger mark. Flood water have started to receding after the rainfall stopped since yesterday, but the situation remains serious in some areas. The flood has affected a large part of the district. According to the reports, 270 villages in 117 panchayats across six blocks have been hit by the flood. Many people are still living in waterlogged conditions. In several places, flood water is still standing in homes, roads, and farm fields. Rivers like the Baitarani, Brahmani, Kharasrota and Kani rivers are still carrying flood water through villages and low-lying areas. As a result, many villages are still cut off or badly affected. Residents are facing difficulties in travelling, accessing essential supplies and reaching safer areas. There is also reports of a river embankment has collapsed at Patana. Officials are watching the situation closely and are trying to assess the damage caused by the flood. The flood has disrupted daily life in Jajpur as rivers still continue to flow high and many villages remain marooned. The residents are struggling to access essential supplies. People are now waiting for relief and government assistance as the flood situation continues.
