After Krishna’s birth, his father, Vasudeva, secretly transported him to Gokulam, where Nanda and Yashoda resided, to protect him from Kamsa. The news of Krishna’s birth was met with immense joy in Gokulam, particularly by Nanda and Yashoda. Nanda Maharaj, overwhelmed with happiness, celebrated Krishna’s birth with great fanfare, distributing gifts and spreading joy throughout the village. Nandotsav directly follows Janmashtami, the celebration of Krishna’s birth. It is a day to revel in the happiness and divine presence brought about by his arrival. The festival is named after Nanda, Krishna’s foster father, and recognizes his role in nurturing and raising Krishna.
