jajpur,08/05: Police have arrested six persons in Jajpur district on Friday night on the charges of ransacking licensed foreign liquor shops at Krushnapada village under Kuakhia police station.On Wednesday, many locals illegally ransacked a licenced Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) shop at Kurshnapada village and attacked the liquor shop owner and other employees of the shop for which we arrested six villagers under sections- 395, 147,148, 323, 294,427,149 and 506 of IPC on the charges of damaging the licensed liquor shop . We are raiding the hideouts of all the accused persons to arrest them, said Manoj Swain the IIC of Kuakhia police station.Earlier , Ajaya Rath the licence holder of the liquor shop filed an FIR in the police station and alleged that around 60 persons attacked him and damaged the liquor shop.Earlier, we had submitted memorandums to the district collector, district superintendent of police and the excise officials many times to stop the sale of liquor in our village . But the authorities did not pay any heed to our pleas for which many locals mostly women ransacked the liquor shop . We don’t want alcohol, we want water, said a village woman.
