Senior officials visited weaves’ village Gopalpur .

Jajpur,04/02; Senior officials of textile department , ORMAS and other officials including the collector of the district visited the village on Wednesday to chalk out plans to develop the village to help the weavers. Gopalpur village famous for Tussar silk saree will be developed as a Craft Cluster under SFURTI (Scheme of Fund for Upgradation and Regeneration of Traditional Industries) and other schemes of the union and state government .Under the proposed project we will set up four Common Facility Centers(CFCs) at Gopalpur for generating sustained employment opportunities for the weavers to weave Tussar silk sarees, towels , handkerchiefs, scarves etc. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared by the project implementation agency with the help of the district administration soon for this project, said Chakravarti Singh Rathore the collector of Jajpur.The proposed craft cluster will revive the hand-loom sector and improve the financial condition of skilled weavers , added the collector.We were delighted after the authorities decided to build a craft cluster and other developmental works in the village to promote weaving and other works. Our village is famous for the birthplace of the sprint queen Dutee Chand and silk weaving , said Narendra Behera, the president of Gopalpur Balukeswaer weavers ‘ cooperative society.
