Jajpur,16/12(PPT); Forest officials have seized four kilograms of molar teeth of an elephant , five deer horns and one live chameleon and arrested two persons on the charge of poaching and illegal wildlife trade on Tuesday night in Jajpur district.The molar teeth of the elephant , deer horns and chameleon apparently were brought from the Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Balasore district by the both arrested persons . They were trying to sell the seized items . We arrested them when they came to Bhikipur village under Jajpur road forest range to sell the wildlife items. Both the arrested persons have been identified as Sidharth Raj (23) of Nilagiri and Dibyalochan Sahoo (22 ) of Jajpur Road, said Debendra Kumar Patnaik, the range officer of Jajpur Road forest. We suspect that there is a chain of smugglers involved in this type of trade and will try to reach out to them through the duo , added the forest officer. A case has been registered against them under sections- 39, 44, 48 ,49 and 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act 1972 . On Wednesday , they were produced in the court at Jajpur Road .The court rejected their bail applications and remanded them in jail custody, added the forest officer.
