JAJPUR: A free health camp, in which more than 100 patients were examined and medicines distributed, was organised at Prayag Mandap in Jarka, Jajpur district, to mark the 82nd birth anniversary of former Dharmasala MLA Kangali Charan Panda.
Doctors from different specialities attended the camp and examined patients. Medicines were provided free of cost as part of the community health initiative organised alongside the anniversary programme.
The programme also featured a commemorative meeting presided over by Mihir Kumar Mishra, president of the Rasulpur Block Congress Committee. PCC Srujan secretary Sudhanshu Ojha, Jajpur District Congress Committee president Maguni Jena, AICC member Madhusmita Acharya, senior Congress leaders Saroj Pattnaik, Madhusudan Sahu, Harekrushna Sahu and Saroj Jena, educationist Jogendra Janda and former Zilla Parishad member Satyaswarup Sahu &Sudhanshu deo attended the event.
Speakers recalled Mr. Panda as a politician who maintained close contact with people and remembered his contribution to public life and development initiatives in Dharmasala during his tenure as an MLA.
Journalists Ramakanta Jena, Batakrushna Parida and Akhil Kumar Swain, besides Congress leaders Harihar Mallik, Bidyadhar Dhal, Ananta Kishore Swain and Purnachandra Tarai, paid tributes to the former legislator and recalled their association with him.
Social worker Madhusmita Behera was felicitated on the occasion. Mr. Panda’s elder son Jitendra Panda and younger son Sangram Keshari Panda welcomed the guests and coordinated the programme. Dharmasala Block Congress Committee president Sanjay Kumar Rout proposed the vote of thanks.
