Bhubaneswar,30/10(PPT): Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to the next of kin of three members of a family who died in a landslide at Dangesi village under Raikia block in Kandhamal district on Thursday. Expressing deep sorrow over the deaths of Achyut Pradhan, his wife Anisha Pradhan and their nine-month-old child, the Chief Minister conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and announced the compensation through a post on X. The tragedy occurred when a landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall in the aftermath of Cyclone Arnab, swept down a nearby hill and buried their house under debris, trapping the family inside. Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, who is also in charge of Kandhamal district, confirmed the deaths. Several other villagers are feared missing, while rescue teams have launched operations to locate and rescue those who may remain trapped beneath the debris.
