JAJPUR,28/09(PPT): The 70th State-Level School Group Handball Championship concluded at Mahapurusha Hadidas Mahavidyalaya at Chhatia in Jajpur district’s Badachana block, with the winning teams receiving prizes at the concluding ceremony.
Badachana MLA Amar Kumar Nayak, Korei MLA Akash Das Nayak and Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sekhar Sahu attended the closing ceremony and felicitated the winning teams. The championship brought together young handball players from different parts of Odisha, who displayed enthusiasm, sporting skills, discipline and team spirit throughout the competition.
Speaking on the occasion, Amar Kumar Nayak said sports play an important role in shaping the personality and future of young people. “Sports are not merely a test of physical ability. They teach discipline, unity, patience, perseverance and team spirit. The sporting spirit displayed by the players in this championship is encouraging. I wish all the participants a bright future and greater success in the field of sports,” he said.
Akash Das Nayak appreciated the efforts of the players, coaches, officials and organisers for successfully conducting the State-level championship. He said such competitions provide young athletes with an opportunity to showcase their talent, gain competitive experience and pursue excellence in sports.
Himanshu Sekhar Sahu congratulated the participating teams and said sporting events at the school level help identify and nurture young talent. “Sports build confidence, discipline and a sense of teamwork among students. Such competitions provide a valuable platform for young players to develop their abilities and aspire to represent the State and the country at higher levels,” he said.
The concluding ceremony was attended by sports officials, teachers, coaches, students, players and local representatives. The organisers congratulated the winners and appreciated the participation and sportsmanship of all the teams.
