Cuttcak /Jajpur,20/09(PPT ): Central Range Inspector General of Police Dr Satyajit Nayak, IPS, has urged people to cooperate with the police to strengthen public safety, maintain law and order and build a peaceful society. He said effective policing was a shared responsibility and that active citizen participation was essential for preventing crime and addressing emerging challenges. Dr Nayak stressed the need for a strong and constructive relationship between the police and the public and urged citizens to promptly report suspicious activities, criminal incidents and other concerns to the police. He also appealed to people to avoid spreading rumours and unverified information, particularly on social media, which could create fear and disturb public order, and instead rely on verified information and cooperate with law-enforcement agencies during emergencies, festivals and public gatherings. Police-public cooperation is built on mutual trust, respect, communication and responsibility, he said, while urging citizens to obey the law and assist authorities whenever required. He called upon community leaders, youth, women, senior citizens, educational institutions and voluntary organisations to support awareness initiatives on cybercrime, drug abuse, road safety and other public-interest issues. A safe society can be created only when the police and the public work together with trust, responsibility and mutual respect, Dr Nayak said, urging people to regard the police as partners in ensuring the safety and welfare of the community.
