Jajpur,21/09(PPT ):The rich folk arts, theatre traditions and cultural heritage of Odisha are an integral part of the State’s social life and need to be preserved and promoted among younger generations, Koraei MLA Akash Das Nayak said.
Mr. Nayak was speaking after inaugurating a theatre performance organised by the Sri Sri Gopal Jiu Natya Parishad at Bhikhipur village under Laxminagar gram panchayat in Rasulpur block of Jajpur district.
He said traditional theatre and folk art forms reflected Odisha’s cultural identity and provided an important platform for local artists to showcase their talent. Cultural programmes organised in rural areas could help the younger generation remain connected with their roots, traditions and heritage, he said.
The MLA also stressed the importance of encouraging community participation in cultural activities to ensure that traditional art forms continued to find a place in contemporary society.
Members of the Natya Parishad, artistes and a large number of villagers attended the programme.
