Odisha is gearing up to celebrate Vishwakarma Puja on Thursday, September 17, with factories, workshops, engineering establishments, automobile garages, construction sites, transport units, business houses and industrial establishments making preparations to honour Lord Vishwakarma, revered as the divine architect and patron of craftsmen, artisans, engineers and skilled workers. Across the State, workplaces are being cleaned and decorated with flowers, colourful banners, lights and traditional motifs ahead of the festival. Workers and employees are preparing to offer prayers for prosperity, safety, success and the smooth functioning of machinery and equipment. In industrial areas, special arrangements are being made for puja ceremonies, with machines, tools, vehicles and other equipment cleaned and decorated for worship. Automobile garages, manufacturing units, engineering workshops and construction establishments are also preparing for the annual observance. The festival holds particular significance for mechanics, electricians, carpenters, engineers, artisans, technicians and other skilled professionals, as it provides an occasion to recognise the dignity of labour, craftsmanship and technical skills. Several establishments are also planning cultural programmes and community gatherings alongside the religious ceremonies. In Odisha’s major industrial and commercial centres, the festival is expected to bring together workers and management representatives in a shared celebration of faith, skill and technology. With the State witnessing continued growth in industrial, manufacturing and infrastructure activities, Vishwakarma Puja remains an important annual observance that connects traditional beliefs with the modern world of machinery and technology. Authorities and organisers have appealed to people to celebrate peacefully while maintaining safety, cleanliness and discipline, particularly during the use of electrical equipment, machinery and vehicles.
