The festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, known as the God of New Beginnings, the Remover of Obstacles, and the God of wisdom and intelligence. Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, Vinayaka Chavithi, or Vinayagar Chaturthi. This year’s Ganesh Chaturthi is unique, as it may be observed on two different days. There is some confusion over whether it falls on September 6 or 7, as the Chaturthi tithi begins on September 6 and lasts until the next day.
