Jajpur, 08/09(PPT): Foundation stones were laid on Thursday for an Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), a new office building for the Jajpur Goods and Services Tax (GST) Circle and Enforcement Unit at Jajpur Road, and residential quarters for employees in Byasanagar of Jajpur district.
Korei MLA and Chairman of the Jajpur District Planning Board, Akash Dasnayak, laid the foundation stones for the projects at separate locations in the town.
The foundation stone for the Urban PHC was laid at Panthika under the Byasanagar Municipality at around 11 am. The proposed health facility is expected to strengthen access to primary healthcare services for residents of the urban area.
Later, the MLA laid the foundation stone for a new office building for the Jajpur GST Circle and the GST Enforcement Unit at Jajpur Road, along with residential quarters for departmental employees.
According to officials, Rs 4.48 crore has been sanctioned for construction of the new GST office building. A further Rs 9.09 crore has been sanctioned for construction of 12 C-type quarters under the Jajpur Regional GST Circle at Jajpur Road. Another Rs 3.27 crore has been sanctioned for 12 E-type quarters, while Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned for construction of one 5R-type quarter.
The Urban PHC project under the Byasanagar Municipality has received an allocation of Rs 1.18 crore.
The projects are aimed at strengthening public infrastructure and improving the delivery of healthcare and tax administration services in the Byasanagar-Jajpur Road region.
Byasanagar Municipality Chairman Subash Chandra Bal, Additional Commissioner of Commercial Tax and GST, Regional Circle, Jajpur Road, Muktiranjan Acharya, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax and GST, Jajpur Circle, Lal Bahadur Biswal, and representatives of the Tax Bar Association and local traders’ bodies attended the foundation-laying programme.
Among others, Tax Bar Association president Vivekananda Mohanty, secretary Dhaneswar Barik, Traders’ Association president Sadashiva Das, Byasadev Mandal president Achyutananda Das, MLA representative Shishir Kumar Sahu, MP representative Niranjan Ghadail, district secretary Ayodhya Jena, municipal councillors and several local party and youth leaders were present.
