Jajpur,03/05 : Police on Monday arrested a person in Jajpur district on the charges of circulating counterfeit currency notes after a shop owner in medical road raised an alarm as the accused had attempted to buy grocery items with counterfeit currency notes from a shop at Jajpur town.
The vendor, who was approached with fake notes, had drawn the attention of the shop owner Sk. Salim , who then informed the police and during the investigation police seized Rs 2500 rupees of five fake Rs 500 denominations and arrested the fake currency racketeer , said the IIC of Jajpur Town police station, Manas Ranjan Chakra.The arrested person has been identified as Ramesh Mohapatra of Telibandha village . He was booked under sections- 489( A) ( B) and (C) of Indian Penal Code. Police suspect , the arrested accused had been circulating fake currency notes in the district and its nearby areas . We also suspect that he has nexus with some fake currency racketeers of other places , added the police officer.
