In an era when the medical profession is often viewed through the lens of commercialisation, Dr Kar has earned a reputation for placing patient care, compassion and social service above personal gain. Born on December 28, 1986, at Sankarakul village under Bari Assembly constituency in Jajpur district, Dr Kar is the son of retired teacher Pramod Kumar Kar and Urmila Kar. He completed his secondary education at Bidhana Chandra Academy, Baliapal, Jajpur and pursued his higher secondary education at J. K. B. K Government College, Cuttack.
He completed his MBBS from Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati Medical College in Berhampur in 2014. He began his professional career at the Community Health Centre, Jajpur Road, where he served from February 2015 to November 2016. Since November 2, 2016, he has been serving at Kabatbandha Primary Health Centre.
For Dr Kar, however, medicine is not merely a profession. His commitment to helping people has taken him beyond his official responsibilities. Patients who are unable to travel to a healthcare facility because of illness or age are often visited at home by him. He provides medical consultations and medicines free of cost to those in need and also remains accessible to patients and their families over the phone.
