Chief Minister reviews flood situation in Jajpur.

JAJPUR,17/08(PPT): With floodwaters continuing to wreak havoc across Jajpur, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday visited the Dasarathpur area on Monday to take stock of the situation on the ground. The Baitarani River is still flowing above the danger mark at Dasarathpur, while the Brahmani River at Jenapur is flowing below the danger level.The combined impact of the two rivers and their tributaries has severely affected several low-lying areas, including Bari, Jajpur and Dasarathpur. As many as 242 villages across eight blocks remain surrounded by floodwater, leaving residents struggling with disrupted connectivity and daily life.The flooding has also caused extensive damage to agricultural land. Large tracts of farmland have been submerged, resulting in damage to paddy and vegetable crops and raising concerns among farmers about their livelihoods.Amid the difficult situation, the district administration has intensified relief measures. Rescue and rehabilitation operations are underway, while cooked food and other relief materials are being provided to affected people.Against this backdrop, the CM’s visit to Jajpur assumes significance. Majhi is touring various flood-hit areas to assess the ground situation and take stock of the relief and rescue operations.The continued rise and flow of floodwaters in vulnerable areas remains a major concern for residents. With hundreds of villages being affected and agricultural land submerged, the focus remains on ensuring the safety of people, strengthening relief operations, and restoring normalcy in the flood-hit areas. Following the directions of the Chief Minister, priority is being given to providing safety and necessary assistance to the affected people, and relief, rescue, and health services have been expedited.
