RAYAGADA, 26/09 : The Rayagada district unit of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday organised a protest rally against the proposed MMDR Bill, with more than 3,000 party workers and functionaries participating in the demonstration.
The protest march, led by Rayagada district BJD president Jagannath Saraka, began near the statue of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik at the Rayagada bus stand. Senior State-level leaders Pradeep Majhi, Pritiranjan Ghadei, Bhrugu Baxipatra, Chinmay Mahapatra and Sudam Marandi, among others, participated in the programme.
The protesters marched through different parts of the town and later reached the Rayagada Collectorate. A memorandum opposing the MMDR Bill was submitted to Rayagada Collector Ashutosh Kulkarni through the district administration. Party leaders said the protest was aimed at drawing attention to their concerns over the proposed legislation and its implications for Odisha.
